Scott Hierlinger Appointed to IIDA International Board of Directors

President Felice Silverman, IIDA, is pleased to announce that Scott Hierlinger, IIDA, is joining the International Board of Directors for a two-year term.  A past president of the Northland Chapter, Scott is Director of Design at NELSON in Minneapolis.  The Board of Directors enthusiastically welcomes Scott and his comprehensive leadership skills and talents to the Board of Directors.

Steelcase CEO James P. Hackett to Retire

James P. Hackett, Chief Executive Officer of Steelcase Inc. for the last 19 years, recently announced his plans for retirement. Hackett is credited with having transformed the culture of Steelcase, championing Design and design thinking throughout the organization, and encouraging the providing of insight on how well-designed workspaces can impact performance. A visionary and an advocate of life-long learning, he introduced the critical thinking business model still employed at Steelcase, personally teaching its key principles to hundreds of the company’s leaders.

Hackett announced his retirement at the Steelcase annual shareholder meeting, indicating that he will remain in his current capacity through February 28, 2014, at which time he will take a new position as vice chair for one year. He will continue to serve as a member of the Steelcase board of directors.
