Leaders Breakfast Fall 2014 Recap
The IIDA Leaders Breakfast fall series ended on a high note with a record number of attendees in Chicago on October 10. The fall series included sold out Breakfasts in Los Angeles, Houston, and San Francisco. Each of the Breakfasts featured a keynote speaker and honoree. Los Angeles and Houston keynote, Todd Henry, author and founder of The Accidental Creative, pushed attendees to release their best inner work and to break away from mediocrity. “Cover bands don’t change the world,” said Henry. San Francisco welcomed hotelier and Airbnb’s Head of Global Hospitality and Strategy Chip Conley, where he presented his “Hierarchy of Needs in the Workplace,” and Chicago audiences were captivated by architect, designer, and MIT professor Neri Oxman and her scientific creations and discoveries.
IIDA Leadership Award of Excellence honorees were presented with a one-of-a-kind Herman Miller Eames stool. In her acceptance speech, designer Holly Hunt reminded the Chicago audience to “never let best get in the way of better.” Houston Leaders Breakfast attendees stood on their feet for Louise Nicholson Carter, IIDA. San Francisco’s Northern California Chapter presented an additional Distinguished Honor Award to Anna Hernandez, Industry IIDA, for Luna Textiles. The fall series was an overwhelming success with the hard work of Chapter volunteers and students, and the support of National Benefactors Herman Miller and Interior Design Media. The next Leaders Breakfast will be hosted in Toronto, Canada, on Wednesday, Dec. 3. Spring 2015 Leaders Breakfast dates will be released soon.
